Bridge of the Slovak National Uprising
The bridge of the Slovak National Uprising (Bridge SNP) was declared the construction of the century, it is the first asymmetric suspension bridge and the second of its kind in the world.
The steel road bridge of the original shape is suspended on an 84.6 m high pylon with a characteristic object, in the shape of a flying saucer, on its top. The SNP bridge spans the Danube with a length of 431 m and a width of 21 m. It connects the Bratislava housing estate Petržalka with the Old Town.
Due to its shape and span of steel construction, the Slovak National Uprising Bridge is a unique European bridge. At its peak, at a height of 95 m, there is a beautiful view and at a height of 85 m a restaurant. Visitors can easily get there by an elevator hidden in one of the pylon arms. In the second arm, there is an emergency staircase with 430 steps.
