Franciscan church in Bratislava

The Church of the Annunciation of the Lord in Bratislava is very old. It is the oldest preserved sacral building in Bratislava.

Some sources say that the Church of the Annunciation of the Lord was built by King of Hungary Ladislav IV in honor of the victory over King Přemysl Otakar II in the glorious battle of the Moravian Field in 1278. The main altar is from the mid-18th century. century. The painting was made in accordance with the original 18th century painting.

Traditional ceremonies

Traditional ceremonies such as the coronation had their place in the Franciscan church. The neighboring Franciscan monastery witnessed several historical events, such as the election of the Mayor of the Middle Ages or the election of the first Habsburg King of Hungary Ferdinand I. He ruled in Hungary in 1526 for nearly 400 years.
