Castles

Landscape of castles

Slovakia is a country that offers its visitors many castles and chateaux. There are more than 200 of them and they are scattered all over the Slovakia.

Most of the medieval castles in Slovakia have not been preserved to this day. On the other side the ruins that remain have their charm and romance.

Most are represented in Povazie. Let us mention Strečno Castle, Beckov Castle and the beautiful Trenčín Castle.

From southern Slovakia it is worth visiting Devín Castle or Červený Kameň Castle with mysterious underground spaces.

UNESCO

For Eastern Slovakia, the dominant feature is Spiš Castle, which is the largest medieval complex in Central Europe and one of the UNESCO monuments.

There are many historical buildings in Slovakia, such as castles, manor houses and villas, which have been reconstructed and converted into hotels. These historic hotels are ideal for a romantic holiday.

Such castles and chateaux offer their visitors elegant spaces, furniture, beautiful gardens or surroundings and experience the fabulous atmosphere of ancient times, but with all the comforts of the 21st century.

Slovakia, thanks to its geographical location, is considered the heart of Europe. However, many natives carry it in their hearts, thanks to the stunning Slovak nature, traditions, and history, which breathe through the castles and châteaux scattered across the country, the unique atmosphere of typical Slovak villages, as well as larger towns, where original Slovak gastronomy, friendly inhabitants, entertainment, and culture blend together.

Although Slovakia has a smaller area compared to surrounding countries, it offers a vast array of experiences. From natural treasures and breathtaking scenery to historical monuments and castles, all the way to worldwide unique attractions.
