Grove Nicovô War Memorial and Military Cemetery – Show me Slovakia

On the outskirts of Liptovský Mikuláš you will find a war memorial and a military cemetery of Grove Nicovô, dedicated to soldiers killed in the spring of 1945. The memorial area was opened to the public on 9 May 1961.

In the middle you will find a monumental staircase. On its left side there is a sculpture that promises a battle flag and on its right side it symbolizes peace and victory. At the highest step of the staircase is the dominant part – the pylon, whose top is decorated with a five-pointed star.

On both sides of the memorial there is a cemetery. It is currently a burial ground for more than 1,350 soldiers. The grove was intended for combat intentionally, because it is clear to see the whole country.
