The highest wooden altar – Show me Slovakia

The highest wooden altar not only in Slovakia, but also in the world, is located in the Church of Sts. Jakub in Levoča. The whole interior of St. James can be described as “Museum of Medieval Sacral Art”.

The altar is 18.6 m high and 6.3 m wide. One of the highlights of the work of Master Paul of Levoča, who made it at the beginning of the 16th century and worked on it for 10 years. In front of the altar is the scene of the Last Supper.
