Railway Pohronská Polhora-Tisovec
The railway Pohronská Polhora-Tisovec in Slovakia is unique in its technical structure. Trains in this area had to overcome the height difference in the mountain saddle area using a stand.
Railway line
The railroad Pohronská Polhora-Tisovec rises in the mountain terrain with a large height difference. The slope of the most demanding part, which passes through the mountain saddle Zbojská has 48 ‰ in some places.
Viaducts
The parts of the track that are very interesting from a technical point of view are 2 impressive viaducts: Devils and Pod Dielom. In October 2014, the steam train set off for the first time, after fifty years, along the cog railway from Tisovec to the Zbojská Pass.
Today, this 1,435 mm gauge line is unique in Europe thanks to its steam train.
