The most famous Slovak outlaw, Juraj Jánošík, was born in the mountain village of Terchová in the northwest of Slovakia. The inhabitants of the village have the monument of Juraj Jánošík, their native who guards the entrance to Vrátná dolina.

The Monument of Juraj Jánošík was built on a green space and is made of sheet metal and iron and measures 7.5 meters. In 1988 it was carved by Ján Kulich.
