One of the biggest attractions in the regions of Horehronie and Central Slovakia is the historical Ciernohorska railway Cierny Balog. In the past it was used to pull wood through the picturesque valley of the Čierny Hron River, now it is used to transport visitors.

The longer line connects Chvatimech station with Čierny Balog and the second one leads from Čierny Balog to the valley of the Vydrovská valley. The first 10.8 km long section of the line was put into operation in 1908. The forest rail network was expanded until it reached an incredible 132 km.

Since 2003, in addition to riding the Montenegrin railway, visitors can also visit the interesting forest museum.
