History of Beckov Castle
The history of the Castle of Beckov is the subject of various legends. One of them tells that the origin of the name of the castle was derived from a clown named Becko, for which Duke Stibor had the castle built.
Another legend says that the castle lord threw his servant off the rock because he protected his child from the dog. The servant cursed the Lord before his death and said they would meet in a year and a day. And indeed, exactly after that time, the lord had bitten the snake and fell into the same abyss.
